The Girl Monkey and the Pearl Necklace

The king had a beautiful garden. Green grassy lawns lined with beautiful flowering plants and a water fountain. Beyond the lawns were lots of trees. There were banana plants and apple trees. A lot of monkeys lived on the trees. At the center of all the trees was a lake with clear water that reflected the sky. The king, the queen and the little princes often went for a walk in the garden.

One sunny afternoon the little princess wanted to go for a swim in the lake. She gave the pretty pearl necklace she was wearing to her Nanny. A girl monkey was watching from the trees. She liked the pearl necklace very much and wanted it for herself.

She saw the Nanny sit under the shade of tree, holding the necklace in her hand. Soon the Nanny was fast asleep and the necklace slipped out of her hand. The girl monkey ran down the tree, snatched the necklace and ran up the tree to her hiding spot where she hid the pearl necklace.

Soon the Nanny woke up and realized the necklace was missing. She searched all around but could not find it. Not knowing what to do and what to say to the king, the Nanny told the king a lie. “A man came in and grabbed the necklace out of my hand and ran out the garden”, she said. The King ordered his security chief to catch the thief.

The chief guarded the garden and was sure no man could come in and grab the necklace. He went to the tree where the Nanny was taking a nap. He looked to his left, he looked to his right. He looked in the front, he looked in the back. He looked down, he looked up. He saw monkeys up in the tree.

“I think the one of the monkeys took the necklace. I have a good idea”, thought the chief. He got lots of colorful bead necklaces and spread them under the tree. All the monkeys got down to take the necklaces. The girl monkey did not leave her spot to get a necklace.

Soon all the monkeys were wearing a necklace and began chattering. “Look, I got a red necklace.” “Mine is a blue one”. “My necklace shines in the sun.” “Where is your necklace?” they asked the girl monkey. The girl monkey said nothing. “You don’t have a necklace. I have a pretty one.” They began teasing her.

The girl monkey took the pearl necklace out of her hiding spot and wore it. “You have beads necklace, I got a pearl necklace,” teased the girl monkey.

The chief was watching from the ground. He threw a net over the girl monkey and took the pearl necklace from her. He then gave her a rainbow colored shining necklace and let her go.

The King was very happy to get back the pearl necklace. “Thank you Chief, you got back the pearl necklace. The princess will be very happy to get back her favorite necklace.”

Eagle and his friends

Once upon a time there was a forest called Aranya. In the forest there lived Mr. Eagle. He had no friends and lived alone. One day he met Miss Eagle. “I have no friends and I live all by myself. Will you marry me?” asked Mr. Eagle.

I will marry you if you can make at least two friends” replied Miss Eagle.

Mr. Eagle set out to make some friends. First he saw a turtle lying on the bank of the river. ”Will you be my friend?” asked Mr. Eagle. “Oh sure, I will be your friend. I live here by the river. We can play in the water and have fun.” Mr. Eagle was happy. He had one friend.

A lion came by to drink water from the river. “Will you be my friend lion?” asked Mr. Eagle to the lion. “Oh sure, I will be your friend. I live in a cave up there” said the lion pointing to the cliffs. Mr. Eagle was very happy. He now had two friends.

He flew down to Miss Eagle and said “I have two friends, the turtle and the lion. Will you marry me?” Miss eagle smiled and said “Yes, I will marry you.”

So, Mr. Eagle and Miss Eagle got married. They soon had two eaglets or baby eagles.

One evening bad guy Shikari and his friend came by and sat under the tree on which the Eagle family lived. They wanted to catch some animals to sell. They had not caught any animals and were very hungry. The eaglets were hungry too since it was their dinner time. The babies chirped “We are hungry. Is it dinner time yet?” “Shhh, don’t make noise, the hunters will hear you” said Mommy Eagle. The hunters heard their chirping and one of them said, “We are in luck. Let’s get these eaglets. You start the fire so the smoke will blind them while I climb on the tree to get them.”

As Shikari started to climb the tree, Mommy Eagle pecked at the man. He could not climb the tree. But the fire was making a lot of smoke and hurt the eaglet's eyes. Mr. Eagle went down to the river collected some water and swooshed over the fire to put it out. But the men, tried to climb and start the fire again and again and again. Mommy eagle and Mr. Eagle soon got tired. “Call Mr. Turtle and Mr. Lion for help,” said Mommy Eagle to Mr. Eagle.

Mr. Eagle went to the river and told Mr. Turtle about Shikari the bad guy. He asked Mr. Turtle to help while he went on to call Mr. Lion. Mr. Turtle went to the tree. “Hey Shikari, come and get me.” The hunters ran after the turtle. The turtle ran to the river and went quickly into the water.

Shikari  and his friend could not see where Mr. Turtle had gone. They turned around to go back to the tree to get the eagles. Mr. Turtle came out of the water again and shouted “Come and get me “. Shikari and his friend were getting very tired, "the turtle is playing a trick on us. Let us go back to the tree." Just then Mr. Lion came bounding down the cliffs and gave a loud roar “Roarrrrrrrrrr”. The frightened men ran for their lives leaving the Eagles family, Mr. Lion and Mr. Turtle behind.

The Bird and The Ant

Once upon a time, there lived a bird near a river. He lived on a tree. He spent his time looking for food and building his nest. One day as he was carrying some twigs, he heard someone cry out. “Help! Help!” He looked to his left; he looked to his right but could not find anybody.

He looked up and he looked down. Suddenly, he saw an ant in the water. She was trying to swim. But the water was too deep. The bird quickly picked up a leaf out of his nest and threw it towards the ant. The ant climbed up on the leaf and was saved. “Thank you Bird, you saved my life”, said the ant.

One day a hunter came into the forest. He saw the bird sitting on the tree. He took his bow and arrow and took aim. The ant saw the hunter and knew that he would kill the bird.

She quickly climbed on his foot. Just as the hunter was about to loose his arrow, the ant bit him hard. He lost his aim and the bird was saved. “Thank you Ant, you saved my life”, said the bird and they were friends for ever.
