While I am totally convinced about the health benefits of eating oatmeal for breakfast, it’s hard to do it often. Let’s face it - plain oatmeal is tasteless. And flavored oatmeal mixes aren’t necessarily the healthiest things around. So when I tried the Earnest Eats Hot & Fit Cereal (American Blend), I must say I was impressed. First, it tastes great with just a hint of sweetness from cranberries, cane syrup and cinnamon. It has a medley of grains - Quinoa, Amaranth & Oats, with Almond bits mixed in. Second, the individual sized ‘To Go’ cups are great for on-the-go eating. Just add really hot water to the cup, let it sit for a few minutes and you have a wonderful breakfast ready! I even keep some at work. When there is no time for a good lunch, this is a much better option than grabbing fast food. Here are some nutrition facts: 6 gm fiber, 8 gm protein, 8 gm fat (no transfat or cholestrol) and 15% daily value of iron.
