Corn Usal


- 3 cups Frozen and thawed corn

- 3 green chillies (slit vertically)

- 3 to 4 tablespoon fresh coconut (I use the frozen available in India Store)

- 1 ½ Tablespoon vegetable Oil

- 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds

- ½ teaspoon Cumin Seeds

- 1 teaspoon Goda masala (available in India Store)

- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder

- ½ teaspoon lemon juice.

- Few fresh curry leaves

- Salt as per taste

- Few pinches of Asafoetida powder

- Chopped cilantro to garnish


How to Make:

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard and cumin seeds. When they splutter, add chillies, curry leaves,  asafoetida powder and turmeric powder. Add corn, salt, goda masala and cook for 5-6 minutes. Add the coconut and lemon juice and mix well. Garnish it with chopped cilantro.


Note: You can serve the corn usal with roti/chappati
